By The Mash Tun

By The Mash Tun is a podcast hosted by a couple of nerds where we brew some beer, drink some beer and have a chat about beer. Each episode we brew a particular style of beer and during the “mashing in” (when the grains steep in warm water to extract their sugars and delicious flavours in something called a “Mash Tun”) we talk about that beer, how we’ve built our own recipe and drink other commercial examples of the style. All this, recorded whilst we sit By The Mash Tun.

Mike Harrison-Wood – Mike has worked in the ale trade for nearly 10 years, and as a cellarman as well as a home brewer he knows a thing or two about not only how to make beer, but also keep it in perfect condition. Over these years he’s honed his tastebuds into surreal description machines often talking about beers in ways that don’t make sense, but kind of do. Favourite style – Black IPA

Cal Noble – Cal has been homebrewing much longer than Mike and has learned first hand many of the pitfalls on the way to consistent and delicious home brewed beer which he now achieves with ease on a regular basis. Watch out for his giant mug of tea, his wondrous cooking and flavour matching skills, and his meticulous attention to detail. Favourite style – currently West Coast IPA
